Scan to BIM | Residential Property | East London

Project Scope

Our team carried out a Scan to BIM survey of a semi-detached house. The client required an as-built model to support a planned extension at the rear of the property. The model and drawing outputs were intended for use in a planning application.

Equipment Used

  • Laser Scanner RTC360
  • Leica GNSS Receiver GS14
  • Leica Total Station TS16

Duration

  • Site time: 3 days
  • Modelling time: 45 days

1. Building Survey and Modelling

The model captures external and internal features of the building with details. Structural members were surveyed and modelled as part of the scope, which is particularly relevant given the proposed rear extension and its interface with the existing structure.

2. MEP Elements

Plumbing, services, and radiators were recorded and included in the model.

3. Extension Area

The area being considered for the extension was modelled at 1:1 detail to give the client and design team a precise as-built record of the existing conditions at the point of connection.
